What a week it has been! I've just spent the last 5 days in the most beautiful place...Luna Nueva, Costa Rica. An unforgettable experience!! Pura Vida means "Pure Life" or "Full of Life" in Spanish. Costa Rica is truly "Full of Life!"
It was a week consisting of a mix of work and play. Mostly play but definitely some productive work. I had the pleasure of going with my department at work. There were 13 of us all together between the Creative Department and Marketing.
I have a lot of photos in addition to many of the photos that other fellow co-workers took. It may take a while to get through all of them but hopefully I can post them soon.
In the meantime, I wanted to share a video of Gloria I had taken yesterday playing the drum I bought for her in Costa Rica. She is quite the little performer! She just lights up my life! I had a wonderful week but it was so nice to come home to my amazing husband and little girl! I missed them so much!

Honeymoon II
I keep calling our trip to Aruba our second honeymoon because it really felt like it. We had such a fun time together! The trip was all about relaxation and enjoying each other's company. There was no schedule, no expectations. It was perfect! We spent a lot of time lounging on the beach, walking, eating (lots of eating) and my favorite, sleeping in every morning! :) We didn't do any tours because we had last time we were in Aruba. We didn't want to get tied into any schedule.
I have to tell you that we did take advantage of the casinos but on the hotel's bill. They gave us $10 at check in to gamble with and then we received another $10 from the hotel restaurant. Tom didn't have much luck on his own but when we paired up, he picked the machine, I pulled the lever...we won $50! I know its only 50 bucks but we were excited that it was a free win — well, besides paying the many dollars to stay in Aruba! ;)

Perks
Being at home with Gloria certainly has its perks. I love being able to plan activities for her throughout the week. I always try to have something fun for her to do. From a play date, craft, the park, music, the library, to just being home and helping mommy with chores, all these activities are good for her learning and development but also wonderful for us to have the time together. I cherish it so much!
My friend Jessica is a nanny to 13 month old twins. We thought it would be fun to plan a play date for the kiddos. So Gloria and I took a road trip out to Arlington on Friday to meet and play with Kellen and Abby.
If I was working, this would have been impossible. I'm so grateful for these opportunities! Gloria had such a great time with the twins. They were so cute! Abby and Kellen are just the sweetest little munchkins! I also loved getting some time with Jessey of course. I miss her! She is one of my oldest and dearest friends. I treasure our time together. I wish we could have visited longer:) I'm greedy like that though!
Gloria also loved seeing her "Tee tee." She kept asking to "go Tee tee's house?" after we left. It was just too cute! Jessica is amazing with kids and I love that she is part of Gloria's life!
These are the days I treasure. A morning spent with one of my best friends, Gloria playing with new friends and the opportunity to enjoy being a mom. Truly so special! I'm a very lucky gal:)

A Party for Lil' Sister
Last weekend I made a trip to New Jersey for 4 days to help my best friend Kimmy put together an engagement party for her sister. Tiffany got engaged over the summer and Kimmy is Tiff's matron of honor.
We had so much fun putting together this party for Tiff and her fiancee! Kimmy really did a lot of work! I was down there mostly as moral support and an extra helping hand. It was the first time in years that Kimmy and I got to work on something so special together. It meant the world to both of us to be able to do this as a team. And to do it for Tiffany, someone who is so dear to both of us!
The hard part, for me, was to leave Gloria for so long! I have had to leave her for 2 nights but this was the first time I had to leave her for longer. I knew she was in good hands though. Tom was with her for 2 days and then my parents and Liz and Corey helped out too. Thank God for our awesome family and friends! At the end of my trip, I was VERY anxious to see Gloria! :) I was also anxious to see Tom...I missed them both very much!
It was a great trip though. I love Kimmy and Tiffany and I'm so excited for my "little sister!" So hard to believe she is getting married! She really has found the perfect guy for her though. They are meant for each other! Kimmy and I definitely approve:)

More Maine Please!
We love Maine!! Tom and I haven't been since just before he proposed in September 2004. We used to go at least once a year. We were excited about the opportunity to go this past weekend.
Our friends Matt and Tricia invited a group of us to spend a few days at Matt's parent's place in Scarborough, Maine. They plan this trip every year. This was the first year Tom and I have been able to go. What a treat! Matt and Tricia are pretty amazing people; especially to invite so many people (including 7 kids!) to spend a few days with them during their vacation.
Tom and I decided to go up on Friday. We took a nice slow, very scenic drive through New Hampshire up to Old Orchard Beach. We even stopped for a picnic. This is one of our favorite things to do...to take the scenic route. We aren't always in a rush to get to our destination especially when there are so many beautiful areas in New England.

Once we got to Scarborough, we were excited to see everyone and to check out the house. What a gorgeous place! It was an old farm house they renovated into a two unit house. It was huge!! And a short walk to the beach, which was nice. There were 19 people altogether for this mini vacation. We all had a great time! We are so very lucky to have amazing friends! I don't think we could vacation with just anyone. This group really is a fun group!
The vacation consisted of shopping, eating (big lobster and steak dinner on Saturday...mmmm!), playing cards, relaxing, playing with the kids, and so on. We all managed to spend time together with the group as well as go off on our own.
Tom, Gloria and I took a little bit of time on Sunday, our last day, to walk on the beach. It was so warm outside and the light was amazing! I had fun taking some pictures:) Lots of sun flare stuff too. It was Gloria's first time actually getting to enjoy the ocean. She really had a fun time running around on the beach. There weren't many people so it made it very intimate and such a special time for us as a family.

Of course, I took photos during the rest of the weekend. I always think afterward that I should have taken more but...I still have plenty:) Here are just a few.

New York New York!
I love New York!! I've been to the city many times and I never get tired of it. I love the art, the stores, the food, the list goes on. The last time I was in New York was March 2008 when I was very pregnant. I went with Lauren that time as well and we stayed with Angelique. My favorite part about that trip was seeing a Broadway Show. Lauren and I had never been so Angelique treated us to Chicago. What an amazing experience! I can't wait to see another one some day. I never published my post from that trip so take a look at it here to read more about it.
This recent trip didn't include a Broadway show but we still had so much fun! Friday we went to dinner at the Delicatessen. This place was unbelievable! I just loved the atmosphere. The food was so good too. We had an appetizer called Cheeseburger Spring Rolls and, although they sound gross, they most certainly were not! Yum! I wonder if I could try to make these at home? Hmm... :)

Saturday we made a trip to Oyster Bay for the Oyster festival. Just because I was going to NYC didn't mean I couldn't continue the festival kick I've been on:) It was a bit different than the festivals I've been to. Sea food was the main fare during this event. That was not a bad thing:) We ate, browsed, enjoyed the music, crafts and the soda fountain. There was a booth called Wild Bill's Old Fashion Soda where you could buy a mug and help yourself to about 8 different flavors of soda. I didn't have any but I was told it was delicious!
Other than the festival, we spent some time at a friends house in Oyster Bay to warm up and eat more food:) It was a blast! We met some great friends during this trip. I had never been to Long Island so this was a nice treat.

Our last must do was to have Sunday brunch. Love brunch! NYC has some great brunch spots. We went to Josie's where they have organic food and lots of fresh ingredients, including fresh squeezed OJ. We also met up with our friend Liz who was a Wondertime employee. She left Wondertime before I returned from maternity leave to live and work in the city. It was a treat to see her! It was a great little reunion.

The weekend flew by but it was an amazing time. Having a weekend away with the girls was a treat! I was sad to leave but excited to return home to Tom and Gloria. I missed them both so much! Tom said they had a great weekend. I'm so happy they were able to spend some quality time together. I swear too that Gloria grew in the just the two days I was gone!

This week Tom is off for vacation. We are spending some quality family time together and he is sneaking in some hunting here and there. We leave for Maine this Friday for a few days for a family vacation with good friends. We are really looking forward to it!

Pregnant in NYC
A few weekends ago I made a trip to NYC with my friend and co-worker Lauren to visit with Angelique (a friend and old co-worker who now lives in the city and works for Page Six magazine). We had planned this weekend for over a month. Angelique was taking Lauren and I to a show on Broadway. Neither one of us had been to a show before so this was going to be a treat!
Lauren and I took the train into the city from New Haven and then headed to Angelique's apartment. We enjoyed some lunch in Soho and a lot of shopping...love to shop!! Of course, when you are in NYC, shopping is a whole different world. A fun, beautiful, expensive world:) It was so fun to browse though.
We had dinner at Bond Street Restaurant which was fantastic! Such a great ambiance and the food was fabulous. The funniest part was Lauren and her veal. When they brought our meals out, Lauren thought it wasn't ours because it looked like there was a pizza and none of us ordered a pizza. It was actually her veal which was larger than her plate! It was huge, as you can see in the photo. I guess you had to be there...it just wasn't what she was expecting.
For the show, we saw Chicago. I was surprised about the theater. It was at the Ambassador and it was much smaller than I imagined. It was similar to a movie theater in a way. We had GREAT seats though! Right up near the front. Amazing! Angelique sure did spoil us:) I think I had a smile on my face during the whole show. What an amazing experience! If you haven't seen a show on Broadway, you NEED to go!! I can't wait to go again!
After the show we were on a mission for desert. We tried to go to Serendipity but there was a 45 minute wait. It was 10:30 at night and there was no way we were waiting 45 minutes. BUT, if you are ever in NYC, you should go to Serendipity for ice cream. It is suppose to be the BEST! I'll have to give it a try another time. Instead we headed to Dylon's Candy Bar for some ice cream. Its a candy store owned by Ralph Lauren's daughter. It is such a cool place, candy in the stairs and inside the tables...so unique! And very yummy:)
We stayed the night at Angelique's and were bums for the most part on Sunday. We were all kicked from the late night. We managed to make it to brunch though at Banc. It was amazing! It was the perfect way to end our NYC weekend.
Being 8 months pregnant and roaming around NYC is not exactly the easiest thing to do...frequent trips to the bathroom and having to walk a bit slower is not exactly convenient when you are in the city. However, it was SO worth it! I had a blast!! I miss the city, its been far too long since the last time I went. I'm glad I had the opportunity before the baby is born. It was a great weekend with my gals. It was also nice to have the three of us together again.
