Its been a tough week for us at the McDonald house. Gloria came down with croup earlier this week. It was horrible! The dreadful barking cough she had sounded so painful for her!! It just broke our hearts! After our visit to the doctor on Wednesday we were instructed to try a few remedies. A combination of steam and cold air seemed to help a little. We also kept the humidifier running in her room at all times. I hoped that these would work, anything we can do to avoid meds is important to us.
Night time was the worse! The first few nights Gloria slept with me...I think it comforted her knowing I was right there. For me, it meant long sleepless nights but I felt better being with her so I could be close by and monitor her breathing. Poor kid! Every time she coughed during the night she would cry and say "mommy!" :( She was so miserable!
We are super relieved that she is doing so much better now. She still has a cough but it isn't nearly as horrible as it was. And to boot, she has a tooth coming in! She has been hit hard this week but she is still her happy silly self:)
Being sick hasn't slowed our little chatty Cathy down either:) She is now starting to put together 3 words sentences! We are so proud of her! "Uncle feed baby" she had said about her uncle Troy feeding baby Caleb. "Bridgee no bark" is one of my favorites! When Bridgette barks, Gloria marches right into the living room and says "NO Bridgee!" Its super cute! Then she comes to me and says "Bridgee no bark!"
She continues to work on her 2 word sentences like "mommy's car," "daddy's truck," "more please," "baby sleeping," "read book" and I could go on. Her vocabulary is developing so quickly! We've been singing a lot of songs this week, two of her favorites are The Wheels on the Bus and Hokey Pokey, which she calls Pokey Pokey:) She is really good at doing the motions to both songs!
She brightens our day everyday! I think about all these little stories and I wish I could document each and every one. Unfortunately, that would be impossible. I hate the idea of forgetting them. I do keep a journal about her but that still is not enough. I suppose most parents feels the same. I'm just thrilled that we are lucky enough to have her in our lives. That is one thing I will never forget!
