On a Mission

Since the beginning of the year, Tom and I have been on a mission...to work towards a healthier lifestyle. Somehow, long ago, we lost our way. Exercise used to be part of our daily lives. It hasn't been for a very long time. Not only did we gain weight but our overall health has suffered. Fatigue and stress being two major issues.

Finally, we've both had enough of our own excuses. We're tired of watching ourselves continue down a spiraling road of bad habits. Since the start of the year we vowed to work harder at being healthier. It wasn't a New Year's resolution per say, just a promise to ourselves and for the sake of our daughter.

Tom and I are doing this as a team but we have our personal styles too. I attend 2 to 3 Zumba classes a week. Zumba has brought excitement back into my workout routine. Its about an hour of cardio and boy does it work your body! Phew! But it is so much fun!! I've also done some hula hooping classes and I've incorporated various cardio exercises and weight training into my routine.

Tom has started a different workout routine. He's been doing the P90X plus video workout. In fact, he is doing it as I write this:) He wants me to tell you that it is harder than it looks! haha I've done a few of the routines myself and I can agree. Its such a great workout though! He also continues to do cardio and weight training at the gym. It will be nice in the spring when we can take Gloria out in the jogger together and run. We used to love doing things like that together. Its what really brought us together years ago.

Whatever it takes, we're trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. I have to say, its not easy! I think the beginning is the roughest part. Getting to the gym and mustering up the motivation to work out is SO SO SO HARD! But...once the ball is rolling and it becomes part of your lifestyle, it does get easier (still a daily challenge though). I hate that we got out of the routine so many years ago. Hopefully I will be able to report that in 6 months, we are still keeping it up. In a way, that's one of the reasons I'm posting about this. Making this public certainly puts the pressure on:) I want you all to hold us to it!

I know there are many of you who have made a commitment to a healthier lifestyle as well. Congratulations on your success to date and I hope you continue finding the strength to keep it up! And for those of you who need a kick in the butt to get started...come with me to Zumba! :)
