A Red, White and Blue Weekend

It was a busy Fourth of July weekend for the McDonald family. Thursday jump started our holiday celebration. We went up to Tom's uncle Frank's camp for a cook out with some family and friends. It is a yearly tradition that has been going on for years. They have a BBQ and then a neighborhood parade and bonfire. Its quite a show! This year though, we didn't stay for the parade or the bonfire. We thought it was a little much for Gloria at such a young age. Maybe next year.

Friday was surprisingly a low key day, even though it was the actual holiday. We went to the mall and did a little bit of shopping on the holiday and then we spent the evening at Tom's parent's house for a BBQ which was nice.

We actually had some fun news on the 4th...our friends Dawn and Matt had their baby. A 4th of July baby! Very cool! They had a girl, Breanna Rose and she is just so precious. We got a chance to go over and meet her on Saturday.

Our visit to see Breanna Rose

Saturday evening we headed to Shannon and Barney's house for a BBQ. It was a great time! There were so many kids there! All the pregnant ladies have had their babies so we had quite the crowd:) We finally got to meet our friends Erin and Bryan's little girl, Lizzie. She was born April 22nd. She is just such a doll! It was so nice to see everyone. Shannon and Barney put on a very nice party! We didn't hang out to see the fireworks because Gloria had had enough for the night. Besides, I think the fireworks would have been a bit of a shock on her little ears. So Tom and I headed home and to bed. No fireworks for our viewing pleasure this year. That's ok. We will have plenty of years where we can see them as a family. We look forward to taking Gloria to the fireworks next year!

The festivities didn't end on Saturday though. We headed to Tom's parent's house again but this time, to celebrate Dave's birthday (which was actually Monday the 7th). We enjoyed a BBQ, cake and ice cream (of course!) and then a family walk. It was a great day! We hope Dave had a great birthday! Below are some pics fromt the day.

Gloria got all dressed up for Grampa's birthday.

That wraps up our party weekend. Phew! What a busy time! Gloria and I spent Monday vegging out at home to recuperate while Tom went golfing with Dave for his birthday.

We hope you all had a great holiday weekend! I can't believe the summer is going by so fast!
